Leather Goods

Skin-by-skin grading, tanning batch tracking and crust-to-finished cost roll-up.

Leather is the most variable raw material in any factory. Two skins from the same lot can grade differently after tanning, and a buyer who pays a premium for full grain will not accept top grain. Pipetal tracks each skin batch from purchase through tanning, finishing, cutting and stitching, with grade-aware costing that protects margin on export orders.

Where the day breaks

What hurts in Leather.

These are the friction points the owner already knows. Generic ERPs paper over them. Pipetal handles them by design.

Skin grading varies after tanning so purchase cost does not match production cost
Tanning batch chemicals and rejection rates never reach the cost sheet
Cutting yield is verbal, never documented, never improved
Export grade and local grade live on the same shelf and ship in the wrong box
Hardware (zippers, buckles, rivets) procurement runs on a separate spreadsheet
Buffing, embossing, polishing each have a labour cost that nobody tracks
What Pipetal does

How we solve it for Leather.

Skins tracked per crust with grade dimension (full grain, top grain, split, suede)
Tanning batch as a Production Order with chemical issues and rejection capture
Cutting yield report by hide, by cutter and by pattern
Grade-aware stock and pricing so export orders only allocate export-grade stock
Hardware procurement on the same Payable workflow as leather, no separate sheet
Multi-step finishing (buffing, embossing, polishing) each with labour and machine hours
Sale Return rack for warranty rejects with full GL impact
Standout features

What teams in this vertical love most

Grade-aware costing

Full grain, top grain, split and suede each carry their own cost and price. The system never lets a sales rep quote full grain prices on top grain stock by accident.

Tanning batch as a real production trail

Chemicals issued, hides rejected, hours logged. The owner finally sees why one batch costs 12 per cent more than the next, and which step is the leak.

Cutting yield, by cutter, by pattern

Cutter A wastes 8 per cent on the same pattern that Cutter B cuts at 3 per cent. The report makes that visible. Yield improves the next month.

Questions

Frequently asked

Yes. Each lot becomes a Production Order. Material issues, rejections, byproducts and finished crust output are all stamped against that lot, so cost-per-skin is computed accurately end to end.

Each grade is a separate sub-category with its own price list. The sale order screen only shows valid combinations. Selling outside the rule needs a manager override that lands in the activity log.
